London Marathon Club Ballot

How do WRC qualify for a London Marathon club ballot place?

Wadebridge Running Club may qualify for a London Marathon club place through the allocation system provided to affiliated athletics clubs. To be eligible, the club must be affiliated with a governing body under British Athletics, such as England Athletics, and have at least 10 adult first-claim members registered with the club.
The number of places available depends on the size of the club’s first-claim membership. Clubs with 10-39 members are entered into a national club ballot, where a limited number of places are randomly allocated each year - with usually around a 1 in 2 chance of securing a club place. Whereas clubs with 40+ first-claim members receive a guaranteed place each year.

If Wadebridge Running Club receives a place through this process, the club will run an internal ballot to decide which eligible member is offered the entry.

What Happens If I Win the WRC Club Ballot Place?

If you win the Wadebridge Running Club London Marathon club ballot, you receive a guaranteed entry to the London Marathon through the club. However, this does not mean the race is free - you still need to pay the official UK entry fee, which is usually around £70 (set by the race organisers each year). Members who win the ballot are usually expected to accept and pay the official entry fee and genuinely intend to run the race. If they decline the place, it will be reallocated through another draw.

After the club confirms you as our runner, we will give you a special registration link from the London Marathon organisers. You must use this link to complete your entry and secure the place within the deadline (typically set as mid-December). Once registered, the place is non transferable and members are expected to run in WRC kit, as a result of winning the WRC ballot place.
